CAROLINACOMMUTER.COM is a web-based service matching drivers and riders for their trips. To accomplish this, we must ask for certain personal information. None of the information we gather can be used to identify a specific individual.

We collect no personally identifiable information from users not voluntarily submitted. We only collect information from those who choose to join. Other sites that decide to place our search form on their page have no mean to access any internal and private data of CAROLINACOMMUTER.COM.

Information this Site Gathers/Tracks

Though it may seem obvious, we gather two types of information: information that is submitted to us, and information that is not submitted to us. By “submitted,” we mean any information volunteered to us by the completion of an HTML/Server generated form, or sent to us by some other means.

Information that users submit to us

There are two types of information we collect that users submit: public and private. We define private information to be any information that allows others to contact a registered member or allows the collection of information about the member other than what is displayed on the site. Public information is personal information that may be displayed on the site relating to the trip (such as destination, origin, and time of going) but does not have to be linked to a particular user unless the member approves that.

PRIVATE: This information is gathered from registered members who apply for various services our site offers. This information includes email addresses and first name, last names, and possibly other data.

PUBLIC: To accomplish our goal of bringing compatible people together, we must gather information about the trips. This information is meant to be seen by registered members to the site but cannot be linked by those visitors to any private information.

Information that members do not submit to us

AGGREGATE: This is information we collect that is not personally identifiable, such as browser type and IP address. This information is gathered for all registered members .

Information that registered members submit to us

PRIVATE: We use email addresses submitted by registered members for administration-related purposes. We may use a registered members' email address to send news regarding our site, but the registered member may choose not to receive email of this type by contacting us at support@CAROLINACOMMUTER.COM. Email addresses may also be used in private correspondence with the registered member for customer service issues. All other private information submitted by the registered member is confidential. All private information can be updated or deleted by the registered member at any time.

PUBLIC: Public information supplied by the registered member is intended to be viewed by other registered members for searching and matching purposes. Public information cannot be associated by registered members or other users with any private information.

Information that users do not submit to us

AGGREGATE: We use your IP address, and browser related information to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site.

We do not sell, rent, share, trade or give away any of your personal information.

Use of Cookies

Despite sensationalized information to the contrary, cookies are not generally a threat to privacy. Cookies and Java script must be activated on the registered member’s site to use the site. We do not and will not use cookies to collect private information from any registered member!

Delete/Deactivate

This site gives registered members the following options for removing their information from our database to not receive future communications or to no longer receive our service at the point where their information is collected or:

Visit the appropriate membership page (individual or organization) to cancel the membership. Canceling a membership will automatically remove the member’s “Commuter profile” if it exists.

Visit the appropriate membership page (either individual or organization) to modify their private membership information. Or, in the case of a “commuter Profile”, visit the Ride Share page and select “My Profile” to modify ride specific information.
