Executive Board Positions

Carolina Commuter Solutions Inc, a South Carolina 501(c)(3) non-profit initiative to promote innovation in personal transportation in South Carolina is expanding its Board of Directors. According to the Bylaws nominees serve a two-year term in office.

The Executive Board serves as the policy making body of Carolina Commuter Solutions, Inc. Each Member on the Board serves as a leader in motivating support for established policy, serves to develop new policy and serves to obtain support for the Organization's programs and services. Each member of the Board is charged to serve in the best interests of the Organization. They are committed to the development and implementation of the Organization's strategic plan.

A Member should provide an objective point of view in open discussion on issues affecting the organization. He or she would thoroughly analyze each problem considered, vote responsibly, and then support those actions adopted by majority vote. Individually, each member of the Board is considered a representative for Carolina Commuter Solutions Inc. and represents the integrity, dedication, and loyalty to established policy. Service on the executive board is voluntary, and as such without compensation of any type or kind, nor is there reimbursement for expenses.

VP of Fundraising
VP of Information Technology

The newly elected board will take office on January 1, 2010. If you are not interested in serving as a board member, but would like to volunteer to work with the board on committees and special projects, please also contact Nelson and indicate your interests and how you would like to assist.

Function/Activity - Typical Time Required
Board Meetings - 6 to 8 meetings per year (Meetings typically last two to three hours).
Annual Off-site - 1 Day
Preparation for Board meetings - 4 to 6 hours.
Other related activities to the position - Time will vary depending upon type of position

Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience, either appointed or elected, in a non-profit, College or University, or business
- A college degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong analytical aptitude
- Ability to develop, design, and implement strategies and programs
- Ability to facilitate a bold creative vision and brand development
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting and working within a diverse environment
- A strong record demonstrating a high degree of judgment, integrity, diplomacy, and confidentiality
- Demonstrated exemplary verbal and written communication skills

Treasurer:
The Treasurer is responsible for the organization’s financial resources and is entrusted with the protection of the organization’s assets. The Treasurer develops the annual budget. The Treasure ensures accurate recording and reporting of the organization’s financial transactions, and adherence to the annual budget; and ensures all processes, books and records of account are available for financial audit by a qualified independent audit authority.


Secretary:
The Secretary acts as the primary steward to the organization, and is responsible for recording meeting minutes and business discussed at all Executive Board and special meetings. The Secretary distributes for approval to the appropriate audience all meeting minutes, acts as the custodian of all records, communications and flyers, with the exception of financial records that are kept with the Treasurer, and works with the President and committee chairpersons, as needed, and assist them with carrying out their duties.


VP of Operations:
The VP of Operations is responsible for ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across the Organization's operations and programs strategy, and alignment with strategic directions, including staff and volunteer training and supervision, budget and expense control, membership services, and problem solving.


VP of Marketing and Communications:
The VP of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and setting the promotional strategy, leading the development, coordination, and review of the implementation of creative and effective marketing and communication plans that meet short-term and long-term goals. The VP of Marketing and Communications guides the organization's branding efforts, proactively promoting Carolina Commuter Solutions Inc. and its programs through local and regional programs, services, and educational opportunities. The VP of Marketing and Communications develops strategies for communication through press releases, responses to media requests, publications, photography, recognition awards, displays at special events, and video productions.


VP of Grants Management:
The VP of Grants Management is responsible for managing and coordinating the organization's grants portfolio. The VP of Grants Management serves as the expert for the planning, implementation and evaluation of grant proposals. The VP of Grants Management ensures that proposals are in compliance with established administrative and financial policies, procedures, and sound business practices. Following awards, the VP of Grants Management monitors all phases of award and closing, including assessment of technical progress and performance. This position requires knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification and resolution of grants administration issues and knowledge of laws, regulations, and other requirements that affect grant program administration.


VP of Fundraising:
The VP of Fundraising is responsible for developing the organization's fundraising strategy. The VP of Fundraising researches new options for fundraising and proposes policies and programs to achieve maximum potential for the organization's fundraising goals and objectives. The VP of Fundraising works with the VP of Marketing and Communication to insure the community of stakeholders is aware that contributions or gifts to Carolina Commuter Solutions are tax deductible – Carolina Commuter Solutions is a nonprofit organization exempt from Federal income tax under 501(c)(3). The VP of Fundraising coordinates with the Treasurer the transfer of all funds and records associated with all fundraising activities.


VP of Information Technology:
The VP of Information Technology is responsible information systems technology strategy required to promote and maintain the organization's programs and services. The VP of Information Technology recognizes and guides the organization in identifying new developments in information systems technology, establishes long-term needs for information systems, and plans strategy for developing systems and acquiring solutions to meet the needs of the organization. The VP of Information Technology develops strategy and proposes processes that ensures confidentiality and reliability of the organization's data, proprietary information, and intellectual property.
